HelloSky Rome Airport Hotel Review: My Overnight Layover at Fiumicino

I’ve stayed at airport hotels during long layovers before, but one thing has been fairly consistent: you usually still have to leave the terminal or airport complex to reach them.

That can mean taking a shuttle, arranging a ride or making your way to a nearby hotel, only to turn around and come back to the airport the next morning.

Flying home from Dakar, I had an overnight layover in Rome and wanted the ease of staying at the airport.

I arrived at Rome Fiumicino Airport in the morning, with my flight home scheduled for the following morning, so I booked HelloSky Rome Airport.

What appealed to me most was the convenience. There was no separate hotel transfer to coordinate and no extra journey after landing. I could make my way over, check in and settle in while staying within the airport complex.

What It’s Like Staying at HelloSky Rome Airport

Once inside the hotel, it was easy to forget that you were in an airport.

The room itself was simple, but it had exactly what I needed for an overnight layover. I could shower, freshen up, rest and be close to my flight the next morning.

They also provided an amenity kit and offered a wake-up call if you wanted one.

HelloSky has 29 Air Rooms at Fiumicino that can be booked overnight, for shorter stays or even just for a shower. The property also includes lounge and meeting spaces.

Dinner at Rome Fiumicino Airport

There were plenty of places to grab food, and for dinner I opted for pizza, of course.

One of the things I appreciated most was not having to coordinate anything outside the airport. I could check in, freshen up, grab dinner and head back to my room.

It was exactly what I was looking for.

The Best Part Was the Next Morning

The convenience really stood out the following morning.

From checking out of HelloSky to getting through security and reaching my departure gate took me about 30 minutes.

It was so stress-free.

There was no hotel shuttle to wait for, no traffic to account for and no separate trip back to Fiumicino. I was already where I needed to be.

Before my flight, I grabbed breakfast at the ITA Airways lounge, and then I was on my way home.

Can You Use HelloSky Without Staying Overnight?

Yes.

You don’t have to book an overnight room to use HelloSky. Their current booking system includes both day use and night use and the air rooms can also be booked for just a few hours.

HelloSky also offers lounge access, which makes it useful if you have a long layover and simply want somewhere more comfortable to spend a few hours away from a busy gate area. Current lounge access is sold in timed visits, with a standard access valid for up to three hours.

Who I Think HelloSky Is Best For

I’d consider HelloSky if you have an overnight layover at Rome Fiumicino Airport, a long daytime connection, or simply want somewhere comfortable to rest without travelling to an off-site hotel.

It also made sense for me because I’d already visited Rome before and didn’t feel the need to turn this particular layover into another sightseeing day.

If you have enough time and want to explore Rome, that’s obviously a different experience.

But if rest and convenience are the priority, HelloSky worked incredibly well for me.

Would I Stay at HelloSky Again?

A big yes!

What stood out most wasn’t any single feature of the room. It was how easy HelloSky made that part of the journey.

I could arrive, check in, eat, rest and get back to my departure gate the next morning with very little friction.

I really wish more airports had options like this!

HelloSky is located within the Rome Fiumicino Airport complex, making it much more convenient than an off-site airport hotel if you want to stay close to your flight.

Yes. HelloSky offers Day Use and Night Use bookings, and its Air Rooms can also be reserved for shorter stays or even just for a shower.

Does HelloSky have a lounge?

Is HelloSky good for an overnight layover in Rome?

For me, yes. The biggest advantage was convenience. I was able to stay at the airport overnight and reach my departure gate in about 30 minutes after checking out the next morning.

I think so, especially if your priority is rest. I had already visited Rome, so I was happy to spend this particular layover staying close to the airport rather than heading back into the city.
